The Collection
Welcome inside! What’s to see here? ANYTHING related to Cyndi Lauper: an exhaustive musical history of physical releases on vinyl, cd, tape, promos, posters, pins, Cyndi’s pre-owned and WORN clothing, tour outfits, unreleased demos, handwritten lyrics, autographed items, one-of-a-kind pieces, magazines, concert photos, phone cards, Blue Angel master reels and arguably the FIRST recording of Cyndi singing live on VHS… it’s almost endless and MIND BLOWING! This collection takes up 3.5 rooms, one hallway AND one staircase. Plus it’s always growing! So extensive it has to be insured by Lloyd's of London.

This is the main room of the MUSEUM. The centerpiece is the blue ‘Bring Ya To The Brink’ dress!

This photoshoot was done in a Connecticut trailer park by Polaroid artist Stefanie Schneider

These photos made it into the album (Bring Ya To The Brink) liner notes and tour shirts

BringYaToTheBrink Cyndi as interpreted by one-of-a-kind doll-maker Skeriosities

The little fawn on the cover of Cyndi’s ‘Bring Ya To The Brink’ album was borrowed from Bambi Arnold’s yard for a photo shoot in her Connecticut mobile home park. 15 years later, the little deer was shipped here to The Museum: we call him ‘Deer John’

HAND WRITTEN lyrics of ‘Time After Time’ written by Cyndi herself for The Museum, locked away for safe keeping!

AMAZING part of Herstory: Tom’s Diner has been torn down BUT Tom Jr. saved THE MUSEUM a barstool from the vintage diner used in the filming of the ‘Time After Time’ video

This wig is a custom-made Jutta Weiss creation… with some dreadlocks added in. Used extensively throughout 2014 and worn on tour for the She’s So Unusual 30th Anniversary Celebration!

Cyndi kindly hand-wrote this quote for THE MUSEUM so that we could have it printed in extra large decals… thank you Cyndi

The ultimate cred is a platinum record sent to The Museum from Cyndi and her team <3

Cyndi ended that same show singing True Colors wrapped in a rainbow PRIDE flag as a show of support to the mostly LGBTQ audience. That exact flag is proudly hung here in the lobby. #pridemonth

AFTER Doc West and BEFORE Blue Angel, Cyndi was in a cover band called Flyer. Jimmy, Cyndi, Charlie, Ed and Richie played the Long Island circuit in the 70’s and this is the mic used by Cyndi… she ultimately blew out her vocal cords doing cover songs of rock bands and was told she’d never sing again. Cyndi’s mic and stand were thoughtfully saved and stored by Ed all these years

The first demo tape of Blue Angel shopped to record studios by their first manager Ted Rosenblatt

This is arguably the FIRST recorded show of Cyndi on stage. Recorded by Blue Angel’s manager, it’s the original VHS taken at Trax, NYC on July 12th, 1979. The tape was transferred to digital and you can see one of the songs on THE MUSEUM’s YouTube channel:

THE MUSEUM has 3 master reels from the Blue Angel Demos. These are the originals from which records are made… in this case, records were not made :( The songs are : Don’t Know Exactly When, Flyer, God Help Me (I Love Rock & Roll) and Helpless. Apparently one of the reels is outtakes and remixes of ‘Flyer’… so it’s got to be ripped at a recording studio. Notice the band was originally named Loose Lips, but that was crossed out when the name was changed to Blue Angel

When the world’s best Cyndi-impersonator retires her video outfit (David Lee Roth’s ‘Just A Gigolo’), where does it go? THE MUSEUM 💪🏻 Thank you Sue Quinn!

Patrick Lucas did all of Cyndi’s hair and makeup from 1983-1986. His talent made him a hero to me. When I did finally meet him in person, he gifted me this negative and asked that it be enlarged and framed for display here. I sent him pictures of it before he passed away :(
